Water kefir is a probiotic beverage and refreshing way to add some good bacteria. Unlike milk kefir, which is formed by fermentation of cow’s, sheep’s or goat’s milk and grains, water kefir is formed by fermentation of sugar we added to water and water kefir grains.
Also, water kefir grains are like milk kefir grains, a symbiosis of good bacteria and yeast.
Since we use water and sugar for making water kefir, it is a good option for anyone who avoids dairy products, whether for dietary restrictions, health or personal reasons.
